Young Gangsta

YG first entered the rap game as part of the "Jerkin' Movement", on that same wave with New Boyz or Audio Push. A Def Jam contract and a moderate hit in "Toot it and Boot it" brought him some claim to fame as well as a spot on this year's XXL Top Freshmen, which could give him the catapult he needs if it's leveraged right.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he stands up to a lot of those other freshmen class members like Kendrick Lamar or Mac Miller or even Big K.R.I.T. in terms of lyricism but I like his beat selection and that Jerk flow, characteristic of a lot of rappers in that genre.

Here's a couple more tracks: ("Make Me Wait", "She's A Model", "I'm Good")
